Former beauty queen Kamila Rodrigues Cardoso, once considered one of the country’s most promising faces, has surprised the world by leaving behind the glamour of the catwalks to become a nun. The young woman, who now goes by the name “Sister Eva,” left the world of entertainment to dedicate herself to the consecrated life. But she remains firm in her purpose: “to live a consecrated life in Brazil.” Kamila, originally from Patos de Minas and winner of the Miss Continente Teen Sol Naciente pageant, was considered a strong contender for Miss Brazil and Miss Universe. The turning point came during a Mass, where the light of a nun inspired Kamila to seek a life of service. The fashion world failed to fill some voids in her life, including the death of her father in childhood. “Being a model no longer filled my heart,” the young woman stated. And because of her beauty, she continues to receive compliments and even marriage proposals. Today she works with children in the favelas. However, three years ago, she withdrew from the competition due to a profound personal crisis.
