Former beauty queen Kamila Rodrigues Cardoso, once considered one of the country’s most promising faces, has surprised the world by leaving behind the glamour of the catwalks to become a nun. The young woman, who now goes by the name “Sister Eva,” left the world of entertainment to dedicate herself to the consecrated life. But she remains firm in her purpose: “to live a consecrated life in Brazil.” Kamila, originally from Patos de Minas and winner of the Miss Continente Teen Sol Naciente pageant, was considered a strong contender for Miss Brazil and Miss Universe. The turning point came during a Mass, where the light of a nun inspired Kamila to seek a life of service. The fashion world failed to fill some voids in her life, including the death of her father in childhood. “Being a model no longer filled my heart,” the young woman stated.
